

Newcastle school of Coffee, Barista Training Academy, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, we are currently looking for a freelance tutor to teach throughout the Northeast of England.

SCA-CERTIFIED BARISTA & BESPOKE BARISTA COURSE TUTOR.
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and skilled barista trainer to join our growing team! If you have a strong background in Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certifications, City & Guilds and other awarding body qualifications, and a talent for teaching baristas at all professional levels, we want to hear from you.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a freelance Barista Course Tutor, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality training programs at Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. You will lead both SCA-certified and bespoke courses tailored to aspiring and professional baristas, ensuring they gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in the coffee industry.
This is a freelance role, with the opportunity to become a permanent position as our training program expands. The ideal candidate will have flexibility in their availability, with the opportunity to teach daytime classes, evening classes, and weekend sessions, depending on the program’s needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develope and Deliver engaging and informative barista training sessions for all skill levels.
Teach SCA-certified modules, City & Guilds-accredited courses and home barista workshops.
Develop and deliver bespoke training content tailored to client needs.
Provide hands-on, practical coaching in brewing methods, espresso preparation, latte art, and equipment maintenance.
Stay updated on industry trends and ensure training aligns with the latest standards.
Foster a positive, supportive learning environment.


REQUIREMENTS
• SCA AST – Certified trainer with proven teaching experience.
• City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent accreditation.
• Expertise in specialty coffee techniques and advanced brewing methods.
• Ability to teach baristas of varying experience levels, from beginners to professionals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work on a freelance basis, with a view to transitioning to a permanent role.
Tutors will need to have a teaching or training qualification at Level 3 or above, accredited by SQA/QCA/Ofqual for teaching City & Guilds courses. In addition, tutors must hold a minimum of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) – AST Certified Tutor certification for Specialty Coffee Association courses.
Tutors should possess the following teaching and assessment qualifications, or be actively working towards completing them:
Teaching Qualifications
SCA – AST Certified Tutor
Level 3, Level 4, or Level 5 in Education and Training
Certificate in Education
Postgraduate/Professional Graduate Certificate in Education
Assessor Qualifications
Level 3 or Level 4 in Assessment (or working towards)
